Deschutes didn't meet July numbers and is closing Aug 15th. Chance of reopening if July + Aug number meet targets but that is looking like a longshot. They also closed salmon to stop people from "salmon" fishing with steelhead gear, hopefully they do the same with certain trout gear too. A hook size restriction(14 and smaller?) should do the trick.

Now the North Umpqua is closing for the season on Aug 10th.

Personally I feel like they should just shut it all down for the year. If the places that have targets aren't getting there(not even close) then the other rivers are probably doing poorly too. Keeping those open means they will absorb all the pressure. We had a decent return last year so we really need to get this cycle of fish back on track, at least as much as it can. At least put return target in place for all of them.
 
While I don't outright disagree with the closure.

1. I should be offered a refund on my Oregon fishing license - a prorated fir the one day I fished in Oregon.

2. The closure won't affect future abundance.

3. All wild summer run rivers should be closed in Oregon and Washington to keep them from having to absorb the additional pressure..
A deschutes closure doesn't mean, "well let's go dogpile on the Klickitat then."
