College Football 2024

If I wanted to see over 80 points scored in a football game I would start watching the CFL. No offense intended to Canuckfromkansas. The game between Oregon and Penn State revealed a complete lack of "D" from both teams. I am a Die-hard Penn State fan mostly because year in and year out they are a top notch defensive club. Both of these teams showed dismal attempts at sound defense. Penn State has been far from an offensive fire powered attack team barley getting by some teams on the backs of their defense. That said, scoring quite easily on Oregon says somehting about Oregon's lack of D!

I don't think either team will end up on the top of the heap.

I’m a Huskies fan and really hate to say this but unless something crazy happens, Oregon is gonna win the whole thing this year. I don’t see another team out there that will stop them.
Oregon has a history of stopping themselves in the Big Game.
Will history repeat itself?

I don’t think it will unless they run into a game where they lose the turnover margin by a lot.

Gotta also remember that the two times Oregon blew their chance was against a great Auburn team led by Cam Newton and that Ohio State team that got carried by Ezekiel Elliot. This year, I don’t see any other team out there that can win a 4 quarter game with them, but we’ll see.

the Ducks have won a dozen Pac 10 Championships over the years, and in 37 bowl appearances they've won 17 while losing 20, so they've had a few where they didn't stop themselves. And regardless of how the playoffs turn out, going 13-0 and winning the Big Ten in their first season as a member is pretty damn impressive.

Its kinds off. Win the whole thing will be really impressive. Facing really good teams with nothing to lose Ouch!!! Be prepared from
the unusual…be prepared with teams and a chip on their shoulder. I don’t see Oregon making it. To many games. The team that carers less and has little to lose will be the tough team to beat. If that makes any sense.

This may be why I like the playoff format…anyone can get lucky and go on a run. Rooting for SMU…

I'll be rooting against any BigMany team, any team in Texas, any team south of the Mason-Dixon Line, and any team with waterfowl as a mascot...
😁

Haven't seen Mateer's name yet...

appears the new move under NIL is when a coach jumps ship to another school for a bigger payday, the new school is relying on the coach to bring the star recruit(s) from their current school with them.
"Coach, we'll give you 7M a year if you bring QB Johnny Rocket with you, and he'll give him 2M a year in NIL"

Cam Skattebo from ASU should have been the fourth Heisman finalist versus Cam Ward.
He has over 2,000 combined rushing and receiving yards even after missing one game due to injury. He's a super fun player to watch.
