College Football 2024

Just read an article that was on MSN.com where some fans are thinking that Georgia should fail to make the CFP because they lost their starting QB which is what happened to Florida State last year.

Interesting to think about, but I am going to guess Georgia is getting in and getting a bye.

I just hope the CFP selection team does not do what it did last year nor make very controversial selections this year. College football is already a mess with NIL, the portal, continued alignment and future realignment of the various conferences.

Ducks are Big 10 Champs ! Ended up more of shoot out than I expected and at times wasn't pleased with our D. but in the end we had scoreboard. Tez Johnson is The Dude ! not to mention MVP. I'm exhausted but happy. 3 more to go. GO DUCKS !!!

Well can't see pulling for the Ducks...
So like stonedfish, going to pull for Notre Dame, Boise State.
;)

I am delighted that a west coast team swept the Big Ten. And topped the southern teams as well. For years I have contended that any of the SEC juggernauts would not be so successful if they had to play in the PAC 12. Most of those teams play their entire schedule at sea level and mostly in shirt sleeve weather. Plus they never played as big a conference schedule as the west coast teams and always played a large number of patty cakes every year that they routinely beat by about 61-12. Had they played out west they would have to deal with desert heat, high elevation, snow, fog, rain and freezing temps. It was never easy to run the table in the PAC 12, congrats to the Ducks for going 12-0.

I have followed the Ducks for years. Enjoy their games a lot.

Boise State has been very good for years but are often overlooked due to the small conference. Ashton Jeanty is in the Heisman running. He came back to play this year with Boise St. because he felt there was something special with the team. He could of done NIL or Round 1 Pro draft but passed it up for his team.

Go Boise State!

Question for you guys who watch a lot of football and have not seen Ashton Jeanty enough to form an opinion. I have seen only small sample size. I have nothing but hope for a good pro career and no bias against him at all. From what little I have seen does he seem like one of those guys who has a college game that will not likely translate to a good NFL career, or will he succeed because he will do well with NFL offensive lines fitting his game?
The reason I hesitate to call him a shoe-in good pro player is because his gaudy numbers seem to be the result of him reeling off A LOT of big runs and then getting stuffed and having 8-9/10 runs of a few yards or less? An NFL defense that can nullify a majority of those big runs will bring his yards per carry to unsatisfactory.

Is he Heisman bust material or am I missing something in between that and Barry Sanders?

Thoughts?

Well to be polite as I can.....you are flat nuts. LOL His game translates terrifically to the NFL and its why he's going to be a first round pick and likely top 10.
1. He is strong as they come. He leads the nations in yards rushing AFTER contact.
2. He's fast and has insane balance.
3. He is great catching passes out of the backfield.
4. He's an excellent blocker.

He only gets "stuffed" at the LOS because teams sell out to stop him and still don't. For the last 2 months teams continually put 7 or 8 guys in the box. Can't do that in the NFL or the QB will eat you alive. And he will have much better O lineman in front of him than he does at BSU. He's going to be a stud in the NFL.

Exactly the inside info I am looking for. Thanks! As I said, hope nothing but the best because I think the league always is in need of dynamic running backs to make it great to watch.

If the Ducks ever get in a real shootout where Lanning has to abandon his time of possession 'run twice and then throw on third' mindset and turns Gabriel loose, the Ducks are easily capable of putting up a fittyburger on anyone. Barring injuries, can easily see them going all the way.
Who's the sleeper in the playoffs?

I have to agree with this, so many times have I seen him smothered at the line of scrimmage only to squirt out for a huge gain, just a remarkable talent.

He’s definitely a good back, but I’d be very surprised if he went in the top 10. Backs just aren’t valued that much to go that high. I do think he’ll go in the first round.

I agree that RB's are not as highly valued as they used to be. But the team that is going to pick him that high, will have to have a plan for him and a O-line that will support him. The opposite of what the Seahawks have....

I was wondering about the Carson Beck injury and how it might influence seeding decisions. The thing was Jordan Travis was injured well before championship week and FSU started another QB. Carson being injured less than 24 hours before selection and still not knowing his outcome (if he is done or able to return) makes this an apples to oranges comparison. Imho.

ASU does look good. I would still be very scared of Texas. Should be fun.

I happened to catch the CFP show on ESPN this morning. One tweak the pundits brought up that I would be okay with is to seed teams according to ranking, though that would allow ND to get a top seed, which I am against until they join a conference.
