College Football 2024

Well this is a puzzler….. as an Oregon fan (sorry folks), there is rarely a time that I would root for the Huskies. However, I also hate USC and really really enjoy seeing them kicked when they’re down. I’m having an existential crisis because I think I might be pulling for UW. Life sure is funny

Now that is a conundrum

and some of those coaches, including many on this list, still complaining about the transfer portal and NIL and how hard it makes coaching and staying competitive. Coaches who will jump schools in a flash if offered more money and the school recruiting them will pay the buyout of their contract.

Some multi-million dollar coaches got their ass kicked today. Loved it! I would rather see those millions spent on minting new engineers, teachers, scientists, doctors, etc.
But Ive..... eggheads and book larnin' ain't no fun. And us lunkheads demand entertainment!

A couple compelling games today…

Ole Miss is trying to knock Georgia out of the CFP…

Who would’ve considered Indiana in the CFP before the season started?…

Attention all cheapskates like me who are not willing to pay for Peacock subscription. End of first half Penn State is leading the WA Huskies by a score of 28-0. With Miami's loss this should shake up the top 5. Go Penn State Lions!

I have added a college team I try to watch as much as possible---> Boise St. This is addition to the Oregon Ducks.

Boise St. is a very good team. RB Ashton Jeanty is Heisman quality player. Averages 200 yards/game. The new 'beast mode' player. The team is 7/1. They will be joining the PACxx in 2026. Something I am looking forward to also.

B St have been good for a long time…

College football really makes for some strange bedfellows! Yesterday I found myself rooting for Alabama to beat LSU and that whining little phony Brian Kelly. DeBoer looks like he is starting to round into shape after a shaky start at 'Bama, it ain't easy to follow a legend.
Oregon didn't look too smooth early but kind of stumbled to an easy win. Ole Miss put Georgia away and looked good doing it. Boise State had a tough time with Nevada but eventually squeaked out a one score win. Georgia Tech surprised Miami and ruined Miami's perfect season. Indiana was not impressive in their narrow win over Michigan and Army stayed perfect by holding North Texas to just 3 points, a team that had been averaging over 40 points a game.
But the game I enjoyed the most was BYU and Utah. BYU played like crap and were down big at the half but held Utah scoreless in the 2nd half and staggered to a one point win at the end.

With a big screen TV that shows 4 games at once I got to see most of the action and just veged out on college football all day. I didn't think I would like the new conference alignments but they seemed to have leveled the playing field and made for more competition. Although still strong, teams like Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, etc are no longer a shoo-in for the national championship. The big money interest will still adjudicate in favor of the larger schools at playoff time but there is the possibility that NIL will somehow make it possible for some less popular schools to break the lock of the major colleges.

And how disingenuous are coaches that are complaining that NIL is making their job more difficult? They are the most disingenuous money grubbing bastards around and abandon their teams in a heartbeat for the big bucks. No honor or loyalty whatsoever.

Thank you Mark Few for getting a good job and keeping it becoming an icon in the process. Not being a mercenary and flirting with the pursuit of big bucks he has proved that an outstanding coach can live on 1.5 million a year and still fly fish the best waters in the world during the off season!

Ducks played an uninspired game but still put 39 on the board against the terps. Better be more inspired next week as Wisconsin could be tough. GO DUCKS !

Overall I'd agree.

Having O line guys score a touchdown and 2 pt conversion, along with Burch's 36 yard run and forced fumble, was inspiring.

I hope Burch is healthy enough to play next week. Love his energy.
