College Football 2024

Dawgs played better than I expected - won

Boise St. continues to win.

Oregon won - ugly ducklings tho. Stay #1?

Overall, good weekend for college ball.

Edited: WA. State did not fare as they should of...

USC and UCLA have been playing for 94 years and I think I have watched most of them. It used to be a meaningful game with serious Pac 10 implications but now is just a meeting of a couple of also-rans that are about .500 performers. I tried to watch it tonight but kept changing channels to view something more interesting. Honest to god, I don't know how SC actually won that thing, they are just pathetic. Play calling, execution and offensive production near the goal line are just woeful. Watching them flame out several times with a 1st and goal was just painful, like a root canal with no anesthetic. Lincoln Riley is hardly the mastermind that he is being paid to be.

Fortunately there were some really good games today, I particularly liked results from games involving Mississippi State, Colorado, BYU and Alabama-all losers. The Boise game was close and good and the the Pac 12 Survivor Bowl was better than expected. But Cal beating Stanford in an Atlantic Coast Conference game? That just sounds wrong...

easily the most competitive and enjoyable college football season in quite a while, the NIL coin from fervent boosters having spread the talent around the country...playoffs should be a hoot.

Kansas has knocked off two top teams for two straight weeks in a row. They are trying to become bowl-eligible the hard way. So hard to coach kids to continue to believe in themselves and finally rise from the ashes. Hats off to the Jayhawk's coaching staff!

I think they are the best 5-6 team and not an easy out for anyone. Struggled early with some close losses but have rounded into form. I like their coach.

Las Vegas Bowl
Projected matchup: Ole Miss vs. Washington

Alamo Bowl
Projected matchup: BYU vs. Washington State

I was shocked when the Beavs beat the Cougs. Overall, however, WSU did fare best in the Pac 2.

This may have been because WSU didn't seem to have as many players jump ship as did OSU ... including the coach. I don't know how they can recruit good players when they are playing with a skeleton team.
