Hell yeah they are. I caught an estuary hen recently that had a big hole in her side and a half a skein of eggs just flapping around outside her body, still intact. She ate a size 8 chartreuse fly in that condition, and still fought like a demon. No pic because the tiny fly popped out in a foot or two of water (king tide).
The only thing that bugs me about this video is that without knowing the specifics I would bet this is related to an undersized crossing of some sort, in which case (an expensive) bigger hydraulic opening would make it easier on these fish at these high flows. It’s been the same spot for years right? Some creek probably plugs up some culvert on the reg. I’d bet it’s an alluvial fan.
