Changing luck

My dad would sing the " Here fishy, fishy " song.
Good luck when I wore my new PNW cap, and the other day I wore my new wading boots. First six casts were fish on.

Left hand up, bring the focus back to casting and away from catching

Long dangles

Rifle through tips, leaders and flies knowing full well they ain't the answer

Take solace in knowing that some of the places we frequent can be more beautiful than bountiful, and that requires no luck

Not letting good luck vanish is as important as getting it started. After I catch my first summer steelhead I stop changing my hat, socks and underwear until the October rains come. Wet wading helps out alot, but my wife still prays for early rain every fall.

After my first few days of telling the guide "we want to target permit", and seeing less permit than we did when we said we wanted to target barracuda and bonefish, I stopped asking to target permit.

I now always ask to target barracuda where we might also be able to catch some bonefish, and we always end up seeing permit. Plus, barracuda are fun as hell to catch on the fly. And, it gives me a reason to rig up all of the gear I bring with me, and tie on a bunch of different flies I tied, every day!

I'll try that next time 😁
