This year I went all electric for my lawn mower, weed eater, and blower. Dewalt. They are great and done are the days of having to fill up my 5 gallon gas cans.

I did this because it made my life easier. Not because of some heavy handed gov't mandate or because I think it will make a lick of difference for the environment.

Yeah, but with those machines you’ll be making a lot less noise… not such a bad thing.

A few years back we bought a home in a neighborhood where all the lawns are imitation grass. It’s not as pretty as the real thing, but I was able to sell the electric mower I used at the old place.

Personally I love the sound a configuration blower makes. Rev that sucker up and let it blow. Harleys, annoying. A blower in the morning though awakens me with a full heart knowing someone is getting down to the job at hand. It's the sound of freedom really.

I was reading all of this bullshit and was going to comment on it. In the first post swimmy said the a jet uses more fuel than he could use in a year. Well jet fuel is way different than gas is. It uses kerosene as it's base with a few more things thrown in. So this shit wouldn't work in your vehicle. and what you burn in your vehicle won't work in a jet. And besides everybody knows that kerosene smokes like hell any way. So don't use it in your camp stove.
Actually Old Man… many turbines will burn autogas… just a lot of limitations and prohibitions from manufacturers. Also when I drove a jet fuel truck in college, we would self fuel the diesel truck with it, didn’t skip a beat.

I went all electric on mower, blower, weed eater a few years ago, then upgraded to the 18v Ryobi system to match my other power tools. Works great! I do have a all yard which I can finish in 20-30 min so it's perfect for that system.

Yep, have an electric mower and weed eater that do the job with no hassle. The quiet hum of the engines puts the neighbor's cats at ease. Still using a rake for the leaves that go into my compost. The cool thing that is happening is a few people stop and ask about price, durability, etc. and are thinking about making the change.

Greg,
Was curious regarding artificial lawns as several folks in my neighborhood have installed them.
How do you keep it clean from leaves, etc?
Vacuum it or hit it with a blower?

IMO when it comes to consumer technology there's something to be said for letting the functional superiority drive adoption of X rather than attempting to persuade people via PR campaigns asserting that X is so superior that it will soon be the only technology they've allowed to buy.

My odd neighbor at my last rental spent hours, several times a week, vacuuming every speck of leaf off of her artificial turf back yard.

Have we talked about private space flight yet? Because that is some seriously wasteful and pointless BS.

So was going to the moon but everybody loved it. We claimed the most useless real estate ever. And it's not even cheese.

I would pay to float in a spacecraft around the Earth for an hour or two.

Now there’s a novel idea...

I think I have already definitively stated this in another post ( #23 ), in future, please provide references as appropriate (:); and some fool suggested I had no sense of humor in another thread, ha!!)

cheers
