Google showed a small patch of water 1.2 miles beyond a gate on DNR land so this morning I drove out, parked at the gate and started up the road.

This is the sort of place Enos Bradner would write about so in his honor I fished carrot nymphs and dandy green nymphs off my 7'6" Phillipson bamboo fly rod.

At the head of the pond right next to a stump I hooked a well-conditioned foot-long cutthroat.

It was in good shape with broad shoulders.

Only one fish but it was great to discover another cascade foothills pond. I'll be back.

It was cottonwood fluff or some kind of seed pod from the trees. There was a sparse chironomid hatch but no fish taking. Tried to reach two other ponds nearby but was unable to find public access.
