Caprs on jigs

Haha! I think this has come up before Matt, but never go to the Kentridge High School gym. Their championship banners, and they have a respectable number of them, are all over the place....

Boy's Cross Country

I don't care which one you use or don't use, but they gotta match man. It's a school man! 😁

I'm not sure the following two flies qualify as "awesome" (they don't qualify) but the black, soft hackled "wooly worm" was the first fly that I used when I first started targeting carp. A stout streamer hook, .020 fuse wire, black thread, black chenille and soft grizzly hackle (the red tag was the only wooly worm I had left in a box of carp flies I haven't take out in 20 or more years (this is year 26 capr anglin').

Darc Knobel started experimenting with different ties (he really pioneered Basin carp fishing), Engee whipped up some black crayfish (I said to him: "Black, what's with that?" and later BEGGED for one of them). I bought John Luke's "carp candy" at Kaufmann's - man, that fly rocked. A few years ago I read about the Trouser Worm (https://pnwflyfishing.com/forum/index.php?threads/carp-question.5026/post-116719), super fun to watch the tail float and see a fish suck it up.
