Digging around in my garage I found an old two piece bright yellow fiberglass rod…..our granddaughter Buggie’s favorite color is yellow (at least right now….) 
So I cut the butt section way down, 5’10” 4/5 wt. I had fun buzzing a cork grip down to her little hand size, I let her hold it to see if it fit….all she wanted to do was try to break it in half! 
Then I cut down a maple reelseat and bought a Martin 63 tuna can to hold the line. This rod should hold up to beating weeds, splashing the water and whatever else while and if the fish aren’t biting!
