Brookies

My time in the PNW is coming to a close, so figured I better hurry up and try and get my last bit of alpine lakes and trout fishing in. Fishing wasn’t super productive, but I sure do love catching brook trout. Largest of the day was 11 inches. Any size brook trout is a real gem in my book.

I have always loved the beauty of Brookies.
When I was about 13 I got separated from the group while hunting in the Crazy Mountains near Big Timber.
It was snowing hard and I lost my trail. While wandering I came across a small stream where I could see Brookies in full color. My first thought was if I have to go this probably isn't a bad way. What my time standing there did was give me time to gather my composure as by then I was close to panicking. By doing a little brush busting while following the stream I was able to eventually come across the road back to the Jeep.

You are right about that. It wouldn't have been a bad way to go. Glad you made it out though. :)

Thanks, the beauty and tranquility still cross my mind to this day...I'll be 73 in a couple of weeks.

Very nice! No brookies in Florida but every puddle has something living in it. It could be a gator, though. https://flylordsmag.com/11-foot-florida-alligator-chases-angler/
How much longer do you have 'round here? Good luck with the move.
I hope you'll check in here periodically and share some Sunshine State fishing with us.
I figure when I want to target trout, I will probably head up to Maine. It’s been on my list of place to go for quite some time. I am planning to make the move next year in June. I’m looking forward to all the cool species to target down there. I will still visit this page and will have to show some photos of Peacock bass next to this gem.

What part of Florida?

Right on! My friend's parents live in Venice. When my parents were alive, they lived on the east coast about an hour north of Miami. My sister and her husband have a house in the Naples/Marco Island area.
Small world. It is tough to pick where to live in Florida as every spot has pros and cons. I thought Venice seemed to be a solid choice though.
