We would like to play them in Cleveland. At the least, I know I'm going to the Oct. 5 game for my birthday.

I think it's sad. The Mets were the "lovable losers", they were an expansion team with legendary players such as "Marvelous Marv Throneberry", Richie Ashburn, and Gil Hodges, and managed by the one and only Casey Stengel ("Can't anybody here play this game?") - no one expected them to play well. The White Sox are just plain bad, due to bad management and bad ownership. There is nothing "lovable" about the White Sox, and who is going to remember a single player on this team in fiddy years?

Yes, the White Sox suck, but then again they win a World Series back in 05 and made the playoffs twice in the last five years.
A far better history than the home town nine could ever dream of even with the terrible year they just had.

Always felt bad about Casey ending his career with the Mets. He knew how to manage a team. Yeah, with the Yankees he had Mantle et al, and then Mantle and Maris but he also knew he had three first basemen, three catchers, six outfielders, six infielders, all seemingly interchangeable and a plethora of pitchers with the great Yogi overseeing the crew. Helped out immensely by the Fourple A minor league team KC A’s. 😁

Given the terrible year it is little wonder only 33,000 plus chose to go watch them last night even after they were eliminated from the post season. And well over 2.5 M during the year. Last night they came from 2 runs down in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game and win it in the 10th due to great situational awareness and exciting and creative base running. You really should have been there to share the moment with your friends.

Apologies to Swimmy, wherever he is, but those amazing young Royals won their 86th game today, 30 more than last year, and blocked the Braves from securing a playoff spot, they'll have to do it tomorrow.
