Bad outing for FlyFish Dan

NO FLY ROD FOR ROB! Lol - it's nuts to me how some people can be so friggin negative- kind of exhausting really. That is the one thing that has always been tough for me to manage since I started the whole YouTube thing. There's definitely more good than bad...the bad though can just be so annoying.

@Rob Allen Yes, I designed it, but I leave all the specific details to two established, local custom rod builders with over 60 years of combined experience to ensure it's a reliable, high-performing, and long-lasting product. Sales and marketing might not be in your wheelhouse, judging by the snarky response. We’re all entitled to our opinions on what gear should be used to catch a steelhead; I'll do me...and you do you.
Thank you for your answer.. so you told the custom rod maker what you wanted they designed and built it for you... nothing wrong with that..

No sales and marketing by modern standards are definitely not in my wheelhouse.. I prefer honesty and building relationships with customers.

I am nit at all being snarky.. I am seeking honesty.

A big group of people here grew up at a time when steelhead were plentiful locally . We have seen the loss , some of us more than others. Most of us believe in doing what we can to protect and restore our runs and being cavalier about using light gear for big increasingly rare fish is never going to sit well here.

Rob is a good guy. He catches a lot of flak because he is not afraid to challenge the opinions of others, and it can come off as aggressive. Never been disrespectful but will challenge you and your points of view.
@DanielOcean time will tell, not off to a great start though...I don't mind being challenged...not a big fan of someone just being a snarky combative know-it-all.

Rob's a good egg even if I don't agree with him on much. He's someone I can disagree with on most things, but still want to go fishing with. Need more people like that in the world.

That said, I'm also one that always uses the heaviest rod I can with just about everything.

Man, this FFD sure seems to have triggered some folks, and just about everyone has chimed in, so I guess I better. Seen snark going in both directions, not a good thing, can disagree without being disagreeable.

Cheers and Go Royals and Go ThreePete

@Rob Allen Oh, I forget to mention, I have a coupon code for you too if you decide you'd like to pick up one of my fly rods. Perhaps then you can melt it down and count all the thread wraps, test its tensile strength, measure the taper from the ass end to the tip and count all the indentations in the cork handle and report back. I can even design a special fly rod just for you - give me a shout if you're interested.

I'd rather just cast it and give an honest evaluation.

I could design and build a rod myself if I wished.. and have done so..

I have also burnt out rod sections both out of curiosity and to create repair sections accurately.

Not in that industry any more..

Thread has legs...won't read again.

Fly Fishing Youtube in general is such a polarizing topic. As long as youtubers aren't hot spotting, and treating the fishery with the respect, I just don't get why people get their panties in a bunch? Is that just the American way? If you don't like it, move along. There's some youtubers that I love, some I don't. But I'm not complaining about them on forums--I just don't watch them and that's that 🤷‍♂️.

No worries, I was just attempting to match snarky with more snarky - all good!
