Awesome Dogs of PNW

Get dawg up on them ways. Never know if dawg gonna EAT the food! If dawg train hotel restaurant floor then dawg go back outside!!!!!

I definitely see either Aussie or border collie. Either way, beautiful pup! Congrats on welcoming her to your family.

She’s been home 5 days and settled in right from the start, this dog is scary smart. Granddaughter taught her to sit in 10 minutes and to shake not long after. Looking into the breed I believe she’s an Aussiepoo, if so, the poodle side is a giant poodle, she’s 24” tall and 40 lbs at 5-1/2 months. Fast as all as well, local trainer has an agility course, as well as barn hunt and a diving pool under construction; going to try her out on it. I could use the exercise as well.

I’m visiting a friend in NY and his “aussiedoodle” that looks a lot like that (and is fast as all get out) decided to sleep in my bed with me tonight. I feel honored.

Ms. Robson. A French Brittany.
Born on November 5th, 2020 and died September 30, 2025 of brain cancer.

There was a lot of laughter, joy, and just a fun life between those dates for her and those around her.

If I had known how crazy French Brittany's are I would have gotten my bird dog, that thought she was a lap dog years ago.

My sincere condolences. While I love your photos, especially the 2nd one, I am sorry for your loss.

I hunted over a French Brit one time. She was a great little pooch & the only dog I ever saw that would hunt across corn rows rather than run with the rows. Ms. Robson was indeed a pretty girl.

She was a small dog. Always looked for rocks and high points so she could see above "grass".

On the second photo, we were not finding birds along the flat so decided to hike up to a high point to scout the area ahead.

We talked about our plan and then sat down to have a bottle of water when I noticed dog pads on my shoulder. I was sitting next to a cut bank so she could easily get much higher.

The interesting part is that she kept looking at where we were going not where we had been.

She was the only dog I hunted over that when we entered a field she would stand up on her back legs to scout the area before starting to hunt.

A total character.

She would wake up every morning with "Today is the day the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in it". Yippee and it was off to the races with socks, shoes, and anything else to play it the first thing in the morning.

Sounds like nearly 5 years of pure enjoyment ,and love . My condolences.

None of them last as long as they should but all of them pack as much as they can in the time they have. Reckon there is a lesson in that. Great looking pup. I feel for you.

In the spring, even after training her it’s ok to stand in the water, she refused to if I was fishing. Today though, I took her out on a local lake in my Outcast Clearwater, she just laid around hanging out. I think it’s because her feet didn’t get wet.
Sorry the pictures are sideways….

Not sure if you are referring to something else here, but Salmon poisoning is due to dogs eating salmonids, lamprey, salamanders or other aquatic critters that are infected with the organism Neorickettsia helmonthoeca. It is endemic from norther California to Puget Sound. Fo more info please see

Two of my pups have had it, but we caught it in time, a course of antibiotics and they were right as rain within a day. Take care and be watchful of those pups.

cheers

Resurrecting an older post because 'tis the season for salmon poisoning. We've been waiting for it to happen ever since we bought our house on the Sol Duc and this was the year. We're just downstream of the hatchery so lots of rotting fish around.

Last weekend, I was cleaning the gutter and noticed the dog had disappeared. I thought to myself "I hope she's not down at the river eating salmon carcasses..." and of course she was.

Five days later, lethargy, no appetite and bad diarrhea. Classic symptoms. A trip to the vet with a bag of runny poop for them to test and a bit later we're on our way home with dewormer and antibiotics. Back to normal 24 hours later instead of dead in another week or so.

Keep an eye on your pups around salmon rivers this time of year!

Token glamour shot of our canine supermodel (who likes to eat rotten salmon carcasses)...

Thank you for the important reminder!

So glad you were vigilant and aware, a day or 2 of waiting can be very costly. Amazing how fast they recover when it is caught in time. Beautiful pup!!!!

Many Cheers
