Awesome Dogs of PNW

How about a nail trimmer?
Ha it is part of the routine. His nails grow so fast it’s insane with the onset of kidney/liver disease. I mean they already grew fast before but with the internal struggles they’re going nuts now.

My friend’s dog Scout living a Lowcountry Dog’s life. We have been away from our dogs for three weeks and really appreciated the time with a chilled out canine. My in-laws’ dogs are not quite so chill…

Rigby was an LA street dog and I don't think he'd ever seen a river until I brought him to one this spring. He's not entirely sure about the water but he's coming around to the idea that it's nice and cool😎

Cali, the Lab-Kelpie mix rescue that I mentioned we had adopted back in late February 2024

has been reluctant about water; like baths and her water trough pool. Last week I took her out fishing on a beautiful small creek where I've caught a number of native CCT to 10".

I parked the car and we headed off into the woods generally following a GPS route in the direction of the creek. Cali led the way and I would give her course corrections her like we're strolling through the woods at home. She's quite good at finding game trails through the thickest brush. When we finally got to the creek she stopped; hesitant to get into the water. 1000007959.jpg
I got my pre-rigged my T-rod out, stepped into the water and started fishing the small run into the log jam, and the maybe 3' deep pool under it. Found no fish so I started working my way upstream. She gingerly stepped into the creek. She likes climbing on the glacial erratic boulders at home and climbed up onto the logjam. She was getting into some loose stuff so I called her to me. As she was making her way back off to me she slipped and fell into the pool on her back and went completely under. She immediately shot back up and out of the pool! From that point on she followed me in the creek but stayed close and was less adventurous.

About 2 hours and a mile later I had encountered no fish and it was time to head back. I directed Cali to intercept our track back to the road. No fish that day, but a pleasantly warm day of wet wading in a lovely creek for the first time with Cali.
