I get very nervous whenever swapping lines off a reel, as we have two cats that hear the sound of a click pawl reel and come to investigate. I like to strip all the line off the reel (or new spool) and lay it out on the floor before winding it on, to chase out all the twist. The cats love to come chase and play with the line and they can sever a brand new ninety dollar fly line with one quick bite. Ask me how I know.……. Those cats are worse then wind knots, they are feared tanglers of fly lines,
I've started keeping a spray bottle of water at the ready when doing line work to squirt and discourage any unwelcome visitors.

@Billy, so sorry to hear of this news, my heart goes out to you and your family.
Billy, I grew up with dogs, but never had been around hounds. Until my youngest girl lobbied hard and we got a rescue Beagle. Molly was kind of a runt, and may have been (ab)used as a research animal. I drug my feet, but damn if she didn’t work her way into my heart. She’s gone now, but I enjoyed so much hearing her “go off” loudly in the yard. So funny. “Baarrrrrrr!” Always brought a smile.
