There are small groups at each lake, and I can't tell one individual from another yet. I love watching otters, they are one of my favorite creatures, so playful. But they seem to really have a knack for buggering things up sometimes. The eagles will be here soon so there will be a different dynamic then.Hey otters have to eat!! Did you name him at least??
What would happen if you didn't take pictures and just brought the fish in super quickly? What do you get when you have one asshat otter,

added together with one splashing fish at the end of your line?

Answer..........What a mess. It got the fish, and the fly, and everything else came flying back at my face.

HaHa, yeah, I took the otter shot not to long before and added the second shot after the "incident". Normally they just swim around and put the bite down. Never seen this. What would happen if you didn't take pictures and just brought the fish in super quickly?![]()
You should come up to Pass lake and meet the resident eagles. Last week I had them damn near in my face my face 3 times one day. Scared the crap out of me.What do you get when you have one asshat otter,

Or see the loons at Meadow lake fishing camp in BC. They lurk under the boat and take the fish right after you release them. I bring a slingshot and biodegradeable pellets on my trips now.You should come up to Pass lake and meet the resident eagles. Last week I had them damn near in my face my face 3 times one day. Oh man I loved those cap guns when I was little! Then I stepped up to the ones that used the red plastic rings with (I think) 8 individual charges that would fit onto a revolver cylinder, almost like a real gun… and they were louder!Bummer. Maybe try the old cowboy cap gun. I had one when I was a kid that had the roll of paper caps.
Did you ever take a big rock and blast the entire cap roll? That was loud....at the time.Bummer. Maybe try the old cowboy cap gun. I had one when I was a kid that had the roll of paper caps.
Absolutely!Did you ever take a big rock and blast the entire cap roll? That was loud....at the time.
My big discovery as a kid was that a strike anywhere wooden match fits neatly into the barrel of a bb gun. It explodes when it hits the target. Back then we had a "burn barrel" for paper trash. I loved that chore! I'd put the paper trash in, douse it all with gasoline, and then shoot the match from the bb gun from a good distance away. KaBoom!Did you ever take a big rock and blast the entire cap roll? That was loud....at the time.
I've been luck enough to have the muskrats, possums and other creatures hang out, and I'm not sure why but whichever lake I'm at the otters seem to come and visit me several times a morning, often really close. I'm sure they are used to people, but they seem unusually comfortable around me sometimes. I figure I'm a visitor to their home, I'm not messing with them.
This makes me think of the big bomber hatches at Lone in the good old days and the swallows picking up my Lady McConnelI off the surface for a sec and then dropping it; always had great confidence boosts seeing that. If it could fool the birds then the fish were easy and so it was. Pea green water pit paid to that.I once had a small bird fly down and snatch my traveling sedge dry off the surface when I was fishing at Roche Lake BC. I didn't set the hook and it released the fly in a couple seconds.
Ever have one of those small rocket gizmos that had a metal plunger that exploded caps? You'ld stuff as many caps as possible into the receptacle, throw the rocket high in the air and blast the top off the rocket. Caps and cracker balls were great fun.Did you ever take a big rock and blast the entire cap roll? That was loud....at the time.
Us neighborhood boys did. My ears rang fir several seconds after the blast.Did you ever take a big rock and blast the entire cap roll? That was loud....at the time.
That sounds pretty fun. I guess my dad and his brother would take a thread spool with a fat rubberband wrapped to block one hole and use that to shoot lit strike anywhere matches at each other. I never tried that, but to bring it back to the waterside and potential ways one might be tempted to try to get revenge on evil otters or minks or any other weasely weasel, my thing as a kid was that cattails burn like a torch and make a nifty flaming arrow. These things make a cool sound flying through the air. But don’t try this at home, kids!My big discovery as a kid was that a strike anywhere wooden match fits neatly into the barrel of a bb gun.
