When I get back to WA in a couple weeks I’ll take picsAre the Shimanos the Trevala? If so which models?
Any models in particular?I might be looking for a decent but inexpensive 6 weight reel to go on my beach stick
No, just something I can use for coho and pinks off the beach since my 5/6 reel reached the end of it's life. Bonus points if it has a second spool. I just don't have a lot of disposable funds at the moment.Any models in particular?
I may have something. I'll bring a few with me if I get a chance to dig them out.No, just something I can use for coho and pinks off the beach since my 5/6 reel reached the end of it's life. Bonus points if it has a second spool. I just don't have a lot of disposable funds at the moment.
I'm sure I can whip something up for you. Let me dig through all my stuffs and I'll bring something. So you want baitcaster and not spinning for this?I wouldn't mind a gear combo to toss spinners and Dick Nites with for coho and pinks from the boat and shore. I've been using really cheap, medium light gear with 6 foot rods that work fine, mostly, but having a mid-range baitcaster or spinning reel setup would be nice. I've never owned a baitcaster and I probably should get one so I can honestly say I'm trying to be a more well-rounded angler.
I guess? And jigs, I have been fishing a lot of jigs too and you all seem to think a bait caster is better for that, right?I'm sure I can whip something up for you. Let me dig through all my stuffs and I'll bring something. So you want baitcaster and not spinning for this?
Twitching jigs? I'd honestly go with spinning for all that. I use baitcasters when I can, but I think for most applications and most anglers, a spinning rod is the better choice. The one and only exception to that is swinging spoons. Then it's baitcaster or nothing.I guess? I'm gonna keep spoon swinging on the to-do list for now. Spinning rod it is! Thank you.Twitching jigs? I'd honestly go with spinning for all that. I recommend an ultralight Ugly Stick spincasting rod with a Zebco closed spincasting reel (like the Zebco 33). Both are pretty bombproof and it is what I learned on.Anyone have a stupid entry level rod for a 7 year old? Probably a push button over spinning real with the little flippy thing (I know, def using the right language).
My kid had what amounted to a barbie one but she broke it last year. She uses her Echo Gecko in streams, but a spinning rod is good for her when we go to ponds/lakes.
I can probably go to fishermans marine and get one for less than $50 but I just figure I'd check here.
As usual.... I can probably provide.Anyone have a stupid entry level rod for a 7 year old? Probably a push button over spinning real with the little flippy thing (I know, def using the right language).

Maybe we should do another of these at your house!(if you guys haven't figured it out yet.... I have lots of extra fishing gear)
Yes sir! Group camp is where we'll be.I’ll be day-tripping Saturday and bringing a fly and spin rod plus a JW Young reel. Is the group camp the place to be?
