While fishing my local beach yesterday, I caught a cutt that puked up an anchovy.
I’ve seen them in the south sound and canal recently, but never in the central sound or of this size. The ones I’ve seen are always smaller.
Anyone ever encountered anchovies in the Seattle area?

Wow, that's the same size 'chovy used for albacore bait. I would assume the same species ... Engraulis mordax?

Really big schools of anchovies I’ve been seeing for the past few years, about the same size as the one in your pic. Kinda hard to see from the pics . but they were swimming with open jaws feeding on plankton, light reflecting off their gill covers looked thousands of dimes moving through the water.
quite a sight!
