Blind optimism and over confidence got the best of me yesterday. Not in a dangerous way, just in regards to what happens when you're desperate to fish. With the weather and a sick kid, we've been stuck in the house more or less for the last week and I needed to get out, so I checked the gauge and the river was high but coming down, and it was at a level that I fished and still did fairly well (even though it was still up 2-3' from the last time I fished here 2 weeks ago). What I didn't account for was that it was colored like chocolate milk with MAYBE 1' of visibility. Assuming it was all of the melted ice and snow melting from the lower elevation. Regardless I tried to fish, albeit, half heartedly and walked away with my first AND last skunking of 2022. All things considered, one skunking for the year is pretty good
.
I took some neat photos, drove a lot, and sorted through a lot of things in my head that I need to work on (mentally). Here's to picking up and moving forward in 2023. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I've never met any of you (for the most part), but I'm glad to be here and am really, really happy to have this place.
Took a good nap here.

It was a bit windier than expected so I left the 4wt in the car and rigged up the 8.5' 5wt glass rod.
