I'm more passive. I just call it in and leave. Especially if I don't have my gun. Ran into too many tweakers and toothless Jim Bob's on the river to engage...even if I'm carrying.Guess it's time for my annual

Agreed. Much respect to Travis for doing the right thing. It sucks that mob mentality has returned us to this type of society.I'm more passive. I just call it in and leave. But I can appreciate Travis being direct. Respect.
Absolutely. A gun (or as is quite likely in this case and many others, guns on both sides of the "discussion") is not going to make this situation any better.Agreed. Much respect to Travis for doing the right thing. It sucks that mob mentality has returned us to this type of society.
That said I’d be even less likely to confront somebody if I was carrying a gun. Actually shooting someone is a horror I wish in nobody.
Well that's weird. Wonder how my friends got theirs. They are all upstanding citizens with jobs and families, and I'd consider them to be responsible gun owners. This is California, law abiding citizens cannot get a CCP in California.
It’s subject to a low flow closure, which supersedes the ordinary regulations. I confirmed it with the warden. There’s a low flow hotline you’re supposed to call. That is absolutely unacceptable behavior regardless of who was in the right, but to me it looks like the creek is open -
Open fourth Sat in May through March 31 subject to low flow. Per CDFW:

(B) Redwood Creek main stem, from 200 yards above the mouth to the mouth of Prairie Creek. Fourth Sat. in May through Mar. 31. Only barbless hooks may be used. 2 hatchery trout or hatchery steelhead**. 4 hatchery trout or hatchery steelhead** in possession.

Flow info below (but not currently subject to low flow closure as I read the regs)

But yes, it's confusing as hell the way it's written. The warden told me it was closed when I called it in (after I had been run out of the camp).
I'm not sure. By the time I calmed down a bit and called, it was around 2 AM Sunday. They said they would go down Sunday and check it out but they didn't provide any followup to me.Did the warden head down there? Assuming theyre as understaffed as up here in OR/WA?
Hmmm - I think the warden was wrong. The low flow closure applies Sept-April.It’s subject to a low flow closure, which supersedes the ordinary regulations. I confirmed it with the warden. There’s a low flow hotline you’re supposed to call.

ARTICLE 4. SUPPLEMENTAL REGULATIONS 8.00. LOW-FLOW RESTRICTIONS. (a) Eel River, Mad River, Mattole River, Redwood Creek, Smith River and Van Duzen River. Stream closures: Special Low Flow Conditions. From September 1 through April 30, any of the stream reaches listed in subsection (1) through (7) below shall be closed to all angling on Tuesday and Wednesday when the department determines that the flow on the previous Monday at any of the designated gauging stations is less than the minimum flows set forth in subsections (1) through (7)
If that's not the right reading, put me in the camp for the regs needing a major overhaul. If it is the right reading, the regs still need a major overhaul as the people responsible for knowing the law are not up to speed.
Oh I know, you need an attorney to decipher it. I got stopped one time fishing it and got a talking to and the warden was lenient because it’s so damn confusing and contradictory.Hmmm - I think the warden was wrong. The low flow closure applies Sept-April.
