Maintaining robots and large scale 3D printers will require a whole new field of technicians.
Intersecting with the emergence of AI, robotics and 3D production printing, however, is a projected shrinking of the US population in the decades to come.
In the past decade there has been a noticeable reduction in numbers of K-12 students, especially among the lower grades, as the US is now averaging 1.6 children per woman compared to the 2.1 kids required to maintain population levels. Combined with the dramatic slow down in immigration and deportation of immigrants, with Mexican women as an example averaging 2.7 children, the US population levels will begin to contract on an accelerating basis.
This could well be a positive for the job market with less competition for skilled jobs.
The negative, however, is reduced tax base revenue to pay for social basics such as Social Security and MediCare. As it is SS is now projected to become insolvent in 2032, just 6 years from now, which would trigger an automatic reduction of 22% in SS payments, which will seriously damage the financial security of many among the 55 million on SS.
So instead of making this the absolute top priority of this administration and Congress, we have
so far spent 50B on a senseless war, our COL I climbing skyward and health costs are rising right along with it.
Pure genius at work.
