A Noob's First Time Chasing Tuna

Great advice about scopolamine patches. Unless the forecast is for flat seas (does happen), I will apply mine before bed the night before. It takes some time for the drug to be absorbed and to have effect. It does tend to make me drowsy at times on the boat and dries out my mouth. Some individuals do NOT react well to it and have been known to experiencer psychotic incidents. Your mileage may vary.

Scopolamine is a strong drug with a number of known and sometimes unpredictable side effects. It majorly messes with my sleep. I have had luck putting the patch on as soon as I get up the morning of the trip.

Another option, non-pharmaceutical, is the Reliefband, which I've had luck with. My kid also uses it on long car trips.

The patch doesn't work on me, dramamine is a garentee I will puke, I have the relief band but haven't needed it yet.

Just let the demons out and get back to fishing!

Puke and rally...
Just like when you were a kid.

Dramamine , starting the night before.
Early and often works for me.
YMMV

My go to for the ocean is dramamine the night before and morning of. Worked 100% of the times it worked, and 0% of the times it didn't
This might be the first endorsement I've heard for dramamine for this purpose. Almost everyone I've heard talk about it, both those who have taken it and long experienced captains strongly oppose it.

If you're going to go that route, the Kwells stuff you get on Ebay from Australia is what gets the most praise.

I have seen this happen, and it is not pretty. It bears repeating that if you are planning to take Scopolamine for the first time on a trip, you should try it and see how it affects you on land, somewhere safe, some time before you get on the boat.

Same probably applies for any of the meds actually, they all have side effects.

For Ocean Trips I do the best with the Non-drowsy Dramamine but I think the dosage recommendations aren’t accurate. I load up 2x what the package says when I wake up and am good to go.
