A juxtaposition

Pretty sure this is the same group of people that uses speakerphone on its loudest setting in restaurants and other public spaces.

I'm a big promoter of headphones - you want your music? Headphones are the solution.

I personally don't do music outdoors at all. Not even when I'm doing my distance running sessions. When I'm outside, I want to hear the outside. But it's getting increasingly more difficult. There's a paved running/bike trail near me, and there's days where I'm getting passed by endless dweebs on their e-bikes, ALL blasting music. I had a day two weeks ago where I had no less than a half dozen e-bikes all have loud bluetooth speaker music blasting. It's just the worst.... If it gets any worse, I may have to acquiesce and just start wearing headphones so at least I can hear my own music and not theirs.

You will hear less of it if you switch from paved/gravel bike trails to single track... and it basically vanishes 3-4 miles from a trailhead. I'm super friendly on the trail when I see others but I won't even say a hello to the speaker mafia.

I've been looking at boats and I'm amazed at the number of fishing boats with stereos that come standard. I just don't get it.

I'm even a little annoyed that outdoor retailers like REI sell bluetooth speakers.

Unfortunately, I have to drive a bit too far for any single track I can run on. I'm limited to what I have in my general neighborhood area for my daily runs due to time constraints.

I'll put an audiobook on when I'm with my kids if there's nobody else around. If it's just me I might do an audiobook or podcast on a slow day until the action picks up.

Worst experience in the last few years was on a small lake in Gifford-Pinchot NF. Only one other campsite on the lake and they were blasting a song about Kyle Rittenhouse on repeat for a few hours...couldn't have missed it if you were within 5 miles. And if you have to blast your music it should at least be a good mix.

There were a few times this ski season people had speakers going so everyone could hear. Snowboarders........ GD Knuckledraggers. OK shouldn’t lump folks by group, my bad.

What? Speakers on skis? On a backpack? How does a skier carry a bluetooth speaker?

They hang 'em off a backpack and blast everyone.

But there's no better comedic relief than watching me rumble and stumble down a slope with Benny Hill blaring out as context! The context is "look tf out here comes 300 uncontrolled pounds flailing and skidding at you!!" Picture Luke Raley on rollerskates. How will those poor downhill souls know what's about to befall them without it?

Some of the downtown retailers have a unique way to discourage loitering on the sidewalks. They play some sappy pop song on a loop and it drives the riffraff away.

I seek out opportunities to avoid media: recorded music, recorded discussions, shows and such. Silence, or at least areas of only natural noise, is so hard to find. My ear ringing makes it hard to hear things I want to hear, sadly my partners’ radio on the golf course, or worse the abomination shown by the OP while fishing or having an evening cocktail in camp seem to come in clear and uninvited. I guess their popularity is just another sign that I am not the target demographic, and the apocalypse is truly upon us.

People blasting music or blasting around in side by sides should be banned from public lands. They are an infestation of the kind we need not. Hard to know what came first the drunk or dumb.

How did this turn into bashing snowboarders

Sheesh
Been riding 40 years no crashes into people
Helped countless skiers
Yep, same.

Don't ride any more (would rather fish) but that was always my experience too.

Did I mention I happen to be a big fan of 5:30-7:00 AM bongo drummers while out enjoying time on the water. 😉😂

I know, I'm sorry. Didn't come off well. I know plenty cool boarders, and jerk skiers like myself.
