Looks likely to be hot and dry late in the fall because of the El Niño. I will wait another week or so before my Toms get a haircut, and a bit after that for the cherry varieties. Plants are all huge, but being a bit slow to ripen fruit this yearYup
Even in my high tunnel after the first week of August or so it was tough to get new blossoms to fully ripen. Green tomatoes aren't all that bad and we used them in chutney and such.
Should say that newer PNW specific tomatoes might have a chance if it’s a warm and dry Fall, but by August 7th I cut new blossoms off, had plenty of fruit by then.
