2026 Gardening Growing Thread

Very nice work!
Thanks! I can do better esthetically with the wire wraps, but this should be functional for now. Using 12 standard 5.5" fence boards (6 full length boards cut in half), the bevels work out at 15°, with an inside diameter of just under 20".

On another note, it should be easier to assemble by using lighter gauge wire for the "stitching". The outer wraps are what really hold it together against the outward pressure once its filled with soil. At least in theory.

Is it cylindrical or does it have a taper/is a cut-off inverted cone?

It's a straight cylinder. I'm going for simple, easy, cheap... but no reason you couldn't taper the boards to make a cone shape.
Would be a lot of ripping boards. Either way, pretty nifty.

I just left my geraniums out all winter in their pots, and they survived. Confirmation it was a mild winter when that happens.

This thread is no longer soluble,

I bought the last package of sugar snap peas at Fred Meyers yesterday……FERRY-MORSE brand, maybe 32 seeds for $3.49? Barely a row and a half in my planter. Back out buying more….

Want some of mine? My seed pack always have more than I can plant in my limited garden

Thanks for the offer Gary……half an hour too late. I walked to Ace and bought some Ed Hume seeds, more for less $! Save yours and do a second planting, I’m going to give that a try this year. Been fishing?

Peas are good fall crop, planted mid/late summer, they do great.

Why not both...
🤣
