I went shopping for grated horseradish a couple of days ago and it was a bust with creamy being the only option.
I used to grow it and always enjoyed digging some fresh root up and grating it. Our yard now is more limited so I'm thinking about growing some in a container...any suggestions?

I was spoiled by one of my tenants that was a Palouse wheat farmer. They had a bunch that they would dig up with a backhoe and can for the whole community. I was fortunate enough as his 'Evil Landlord' to be on the receiving list for it along with bagged split peas and lentils.

A 10-15 gallon container. Mix soil compost worm castings 2 cups of cottonseed meal,1 cup kelp meal and a 1/2 cup of steamed bone meal , manure if you use it( I do not I use a complete organic granular fertilizer and a couple cups of alfafa meal of alfalfa pellet feed- this is thoroughly
Mixed and wetted. To rest. Make sure the container has free drainage holes and a layer of coarse rock in the bottom- fill with well mixed dampened earth mix and plant horseraddish

Speaking of garlic, mine planted late September has shoots about 10" tall. It's my first time growing it, do I need to do anything for it between now and spring?
Yes measured and used multiple years for planting and spacing.

My view is garlic is a weed, it'll do fine without much intervention on my part...but I'm in western Washington..

Sounds right on schedule . I saved some for the kitchen in mid Septand planted about 170 cloves of elephant and Duganski. I only plant hard neck. Decided next year to back off on trombocini which is weirdly unheard of for me-but Jeanne finally admitted she is not a fan going to grow Kuri winter squash again. Maybe one Trombocini for me. And plant a lot more pole beans since I have so many varieties.
As am I. I put in purple glazer after I pulled potatoes, hopefully it goes well.

Garlic are one of the easiest rewards one can plant here. Where I live an un suspected difficult specimen to grow is the carrot

Picking dutch corn salad and arugula. Biennial Broccoli is ahead of schedule and still growing Filderkraut cabbage. We have had such a mild fall and now mild early winter. No hard frost yet… not even close actually
