I impulsively purchased a $160 Cortland Guide 10ft 4wt a week ago and took it out on the river today.
Pros:
I’ve been fishing the Yakima more lately and wanted something more versatile than my 10-10.5ft 3wt euro rods. $160 was cheap enough to take the risk on a rod with almost no reviews. This will be my new big river rod. I tested it with a 4wt Rio Mainstream WF and 5wt Cortland 444 Peach WF. Handled both fine.
The guy from Mad River Outfitters told me he is using one personally. See below for videos.

Pros:
- It’s $160. Crazy value.
- Extremely versatile; euro, dries, wets, bobbers, small streamers.
- Double down locking reel seat.
- Fighting butt.
- Swing weight is not low.
- Not as good for light euro.
