10wt rod shopping

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a 10wt for windy permit, cuda, roosters, big reds, big carp, muskie/pike, jacks, etc.
Basically, the rod I'll grab when my strongest 8wt is not enough for the job. Whether that's because of the wind, flies or fish. Or all 3.
And I want to keep this under $500, and brand new, so interested in the following-
TFO Moment
TFO Blitz
TFO Mangrove Coast
Echo Boost Blue
Redington Predator Salt
Orvis Clearwater

I would love some feedback based on you actually casting and/or fishing them. The only ones I'm leaning away from are the Mangrove Coast and Clearwater simply because they may not be enough rod for crappy conditions. Which is one of the biggest reasons I'm getting a 10wt. But maybe I'm being too restrictive.
I have a leader in mind, but won't say.

And no, I don't need advice telling me I don't need a 10wt. 😁 Also not interested in 9wt even if it's a "big 9". And I don't want a "light 11". I want a 10wt.
I actually have 2 11wt rods, but they are pretty much musky specific.

This will either be fun or a complete disaster. (y)🤘 Haha!

Thanks!

I'm shopping for an 8wt or 2 and a 12wt. I cast and awesome 8wt Loomis and have cast TFOs in 8wt, 10wt and 12wt. Even a 14wt once.

I have an Albright 10wt and it's nice, especially for what I paid for it.

Echo is also high on the list and I've cast some Sage and Winston rods. More than I want to spend. The Orvis Helios is a cannon too! I worked there for 6 years.

I've probably cast all of the TFOs you mentioned. I spent some time at the Bellevue FF show the past 2 years casting them.

I am a casting instructor and can usually tell pretty quick what works for me and my casting stroke.

Everything really depends on your budget. And factor great reels in if you're planning on blue water trips. Good luck!

PS - you need a 9wt! Just fracking with ya!! Have about an 11wt? 😄

Just get a glass heavyweight....once you go glass, you won't go back. Just kidding...kinda.

For those species mentioned, ideally one would want 2 very different types of rods. For big carp and pike/musky, a more moderate action rod really shines like maybe the Mangrove or Clearwater. For roosters and jacks and stuff like that, a faster action works better for dealing with windier conditions I'd go with something like the Boost or Blitz.

Or you could be really dumb like me and just make modern heavyweight glass work for everything. 😆....just cause it's fun.

You're hesitancy about the TFO Mangrove Coast being a little spongy is correct. I've had a 10 weight which is now my grandson's and would say it's on the medium side of medium fast.

Though not in a 10 wt, I’ve got the Boost Blue now in several weights and wouldn’t hesitate to buy it in a 10 wt.

Having not tried the 10wt BB I still wouldn’t hesitate; I love my 6wt and 8wt in that series. Although now that I’ve been using the 84b series (even from the beach!), my BB 6wt and 8wt aren’t getting as much use.

I do have an unused backup 10wt Ion XL that I don’t need if that’s of interest to you or anyone.

Having cast these beasts (and 12w and 14w), I suggest Sage as well. 10w is on the edge of castability (12w is there and 14w is beyond). You need to shop/try a bunch of makers. I used Sage but that was some years ago and things have changed so I have no current recommendations for a rod/maker. I do suggest you sample extensively. And, you might need to revise your budget.

I have a Boost Blue in 8wt and a gifted older Winston 10wt. I much prefer casting the Boost Blue. Maybe check out the new Echo rod that Flip helped design.

That Ion XL that @adamcu280 mentions would make a great primary PNW Pike/Musky stick.

Great input. Keep it coming!

Scoreboard so far-
TFO Moment: 0
TFO Blitz: 0
Echo Boost Blue: 5
Redington Predator Salt: 0

Probably too moderate-
Orvis Clearwater: 0
TFO Mangrove Coast: -1

And thanks @adamcu280 for the Echo Ion XL offer. And another nice member has offered a TFO Pro III. While both of those rods would be great muskie rods I'm looking for something with a bit quicker action. I've casted my guide buddy's 6wt Ion XL rod and it's a great sound rod. He uses the Ion XL a lot himself and for his clients because they are very capable rods at a great price.

Another option if you can find a used one to stay within your budget would be a Loomis IMX-Pro V2s which is the saltwater version.

Stacy - A 10 weight for carp? You must have some super secret flat where they grow really, really, REALLY large. That "flat" you turned me onto two years ago? A 5 weight would suffice. (Just kidding.) If you're fishing carp water where you need a 10 weight, can I be your best friend?

Another member of team boost blue. I’ve used my 10 in Mexico for big yellowtail, and I’ve caught tuna on my 11.

Yeah, definitely not needed for that flat. Haha! I have a spot though. 20 pounders and lots of wood. The 10wt would increase my chances of actually landing one. I know they would wrong me bad with an 8wt.
I've used the 11wt RPLX musky rod a couple times. Messed up a couple eats so didn't get to test the theory.
The old 11wt RPLX and the 11wt musky specific Clearwater I use for musky are not accurate enough for the carp game. Or permit or reds.
I'm hoping the 10wt I purchase will be.

So question for all the Boost Blue fans. Is it an accurate rod?

I've seen a few reports online of using it, and the Blitz, successfully for reds, permit and tarpon so I'm assuming it's fairly accurate.

I really do appreciate all the input!

Where?

Then I'll tell you if you need a 10wt after extensive research. 😆

Seems like the real limiting factor for you is a heavy enough leader to do the job while not being so big they won't bite because of it. The carp I go after have proven quite leader shy.

I’m not accurate so we’ll have to go to your spot so you can test it out.
