    Awesome Dogs of PNW

It's always fun to run the fields the week after a hunt trial. Chukar overload for the dogs.

    12ga pump shopping

BPS twinsies! My Dad bought this BPS back in the early 80s, as a left handed shooter, he appreciated not having shells flying past his face. Now I carry it around for all my bird hunting duties. Some days I do long for something a little less hefty, however.

    Awesome Dogs of PNW

Chasing ditch parrots in Roper's neck of the woods. Dad took me pheasant hunting and all I got was this lousy duck. A double point warrants a double pose. An unfortunate tug-of-war for the retrieve left the hun in less than desirable shape, unfortunately.

    Awesome Dogs of PNW

They are both amazingly patient with that stuff. Put em on the tailgate and they sit calmly while we pick them clean with a metal comb. Unless they get around the eyes, the dogs don't pay much attention to the burrs, and I leave it until we are done. I find that an hour or two crashing through...

    Advice on high pressure canning

Quoting this to reiterate, it's really worth picking one of these up. I just have a shitty old electric stove, and I had to babysit the canner with the dial gauge constantly to make sure it stayed just above 11psi. With the jiggler, it's set and forget. I just follow the recipe in the Ball...

    Non-Fly Ultralight spinning gear fishing

Samesies on the Okuma Celilo. I have a couple of them strung up with 4# test. Mostly I use em for chucking curlytail grubs for smallmouth. A 2# smallie on those rods is a hoot! edit: In case you're ever wondering about the ability of those lil UL Celilos, here's a little fella my wife caught on...

    Eurasian collared doves

When you see them chilling on a utility pole outside your house they are easy to ID, but I find it's really easy to be unsure when they're zooming overhead at mach chicken while I'm out pheasant hunting. It's pretty rare that I'm sure enough which flavor I am seeing fly by to take a shot at them...

    Which Weber kettle grill?

Something to consider: Keep an eye on FB marketplace or Craigslist for them. You can find screaming deals on lightly used kettles, people just assume they are outdated junk and that nobody would want to spend money on them. I spent $30 on my 22" basic kettle, and I don't think it had ever been...

    Hunting Season!!!

Same as @Replicant's bird, it's a Gray/Hungarian Partridge, yes. It's been fun watching the dogs adapt to hunting wide open grass fields. They can catch the scent from a long ways away.

    Head Lamp

I have a Black Diamond, I believe the same one Zak lined above. Works well enough @ 400 lumens. No personal experience, but I've read good things about this bad mamma jamma: https://www.fenixlighting.com/products/fenix-hm65r-t-v2-rechargeable-headlamp?variant=41994762223670 It ain't cheap...

    Hunting Season!!!

I just wanna get the damn monkey off my back and harvest my first deer already. Fourth time's a charm I guess? Seeing the new CWD restrictions has me a little nervous. I'd better learn how to bone out a deer before I head out to the Blues this year. Hoping to get out and look for some doves...

    Gone…Brunton fuel bottles

Any chance you'll be at your ranch next week at all? I'll be at my in-laws on Palmer Lake for much of the week. Been thinking about getting one of these bottles for the same reason you had them. It would be nice to have a bit of piece of mind while up in the mountains on my dual sport.

    NFR Got any Herp pictures?

Saw this feller on my way out Turkey hunting last month. Came across a second on the drive in, and almost stepped on a third in the brush. Decided that was enough for the day for me, and for the snakes.

    Awesome Dogs of PNW

They've had a few hunt trials out here over the past month, it's been fun getting out and sniffing out some holdover chukar. Maybe another month of access at this place before the cheat grass takes over for the summer, then we'll ditch the fields in favor of swimming for exercise.
