Camping...In this Crazy World You Just Never Know Anymore

If you extrapolate out further, it's clear that the risks of a sedentary life and the low grade vices that most people indulge in have a vastly higher death toll. Having said that IMO there's no small number of outdoor pursuits that are vastly more dangerous than driving but produce relatively...

Camping...In this Crazy World You Just Never Know Anymore

Agree. Could just be a personal quirk of mine, but I've often reflected on the fact that I can be pretty calm and comfortable in situations that are light years more dangerous than lying by myself in a tent in an isolated campground, but if I hear a twig snapping nearby or it can light up the...

Tribe Likely to Acquire High Bridge Launch

Same - but it seems 100% clear that A) this was land that the State had clear and uncontested ownership of for decades, and was acquired, developed and maintained for the express purpose of providing access to the public and B) the WDFW was actively seeking to acquire this land from the DOC to...

Tribe Likely to Acquire High Bridge Launch

Lots to ponder WRT the "administrative delays" that arose after the "consultations" with the tribe and local landowners and have held up the transfer from the DOC to the WDFW since 2018 despite the WDFW having previously sought to acquire the property for years and the DOC supporting the transfer.

Tribe Likely to Acquire High Bridge Launch

Sounds like the deal hasn't been finalized but also sounds like the final outcome is all but certain. https://nwsportsmanmag.com/lower-snoqualmie-boat-launch-may-be-acquired-from-state-by-tulalip-tribes/

Camping...In this Crazy World You Just Never Know Anymore

Not afraid to admit that I sleep more soundly when I'm armed when out camping by myself in a random pull-out. This despite knowing that 1) the odds of anyone creeping up on you while camping are indistinguishable from zero and 2) successfully defending yourself when ambushed in your sleep aren't...

    Alpine Lakes Extravaganza

Another cascadeclimbers.com alumnus on board! Very impressed at the stoicism and fortitude of your children! I've been able to get my girls up skiing, hundreds of miles of river-miles on multi-day raft-trips, camping, mushroom hunting, and have managed to work in a bit of fishing (roping in...

    All the Rage...

I've still got a ways to go when it comes to Skagit casting, but I've got enough of a hang of it to generally get my fly where I want it to go under most conditions. I feel like I should invest any time I have to practice on getting better at the skagit game, but I think last year for the first...

    Team Washington - The Podcast

Anyone remember the rationale for closing 9 at the end of September?

    Puget Sound

Music to my ears. It's been a mighty busy year with very little fishing, but things are looking up from now through the end of the year so that's great incentive to keep trying to sneak out when I've got a time-window right up until the closing bell.

Rare Feathers For Fancy Fly Tyers

I don't tie anything fancy enough to need these feathers, but I noticed the following listing on FB marketplace. Can't vouch for the rarity/price - but they're certainly pretty. Seems like they'd be good for conjuring up a high-end rendition of "The Precious" and potentially winding up as a bit...
