Here is an example of when the research confirms what we already knew. Vine ripened tomatoes taste different, most would say better. F*ckin rats!!

    What Are You Eating?

Depending on where and how you place your thumb or finger on the image you want to cut sometimes iPhones will cut out a “sticker” that cuts out the background. Food looks great!

Yeah I picked the blush tomatoes this morning. I'm 99% sure it's rats, as I've seen 'em around. Ah, I guess like Lee Ving sang sardonically, "I love living in the City!"

I couldn’t get to the store yesterday so put out my one trap baited with a half of a store tomato. This morning the trap was triggered and the bait was gone. 😐 I want to get more traps and I’ll try again tonight.

    Coffee talk

It’s a 5 lb. package. I’d like to pay less than $11/lb., but that doesn’t seem out of line with what other roasters are charging.

    Tuna 2026

Oh gotcha, interesting, thanks. The fiber and feather portion of the fly seems like a pretty straightforward mostly synthetic baitfish to me which is a template that I think has been around for a bit (surely more than 6 years) so I’m curious what you consider to be a typical PNW albacore fly.

    Tuna 2026

The fly is a typical tuna fly. The extension and spinner blade are atypical. I appreciate Lou’s experiment and report. Would flash work just as well? Who’s to say until you try something. Tuna have large eyes and sensitive lateral lines. And maybe it was gonna pay to have a fly with a flappy...

Plus the base+dog will make a great counterweight up front in a longer canoe.

    Tuna 2026

I had to look this up. They are click-pawl saltwater friendly fairly lightweight reels rated up to 12 weight (or beyond) so no real drag but they look like a Nautilus or something. And they cost 700 bucks. Probably not for me.

I pretty sure a rat is eating my ripening patio tomatoes before I get to them.

    Great Garage sale scores

You said the bobbins are wood but I'm guessing you maybe meant the spools? Do these magical gramma threads have spools that fit a fly tying bobbin? Or have you fashioned a suitable vise and bobbin out of wayward beach flotsam and driftwood?

    Tuna 2026

Effin'-A, that sounds like a blast and thanks for the report. I miss fishing with that Nick guy! Gonna need Ed to weigh in here. *Every* bait stop? When they were eagerly eating cast flies? I don't judge--I like catching tuna all kinds of ways--but just curious if this is a new passion or if...
