You might consider a RIO Hover line. Sink just below the surface you when you strip you aren't leaving the tell tale wake on the surface. Now you lose any visual indication but I prefer the presentation and stealth this line gives me.

When it comes to wind prediction a marina owner in LA told me this a number of years ago and while he said it tongue in cheek its not too far off. Add the two number of the forecasted range and you'll get the real wind. So if they predict 5-10 then its going to blow 15.
