Fishin Buddy Max Battery Life?

I have this one with two battery cartridges. The batteries are rechargeable AAs and I don't think I get even 3 hours on a fully charged pack. Anybody have this issue? I bought a pack of non rechargeables to try next time out. Bottom line is I dont get a full day total using both cartridges with the rechargeables. Pretty poor and I hate to go to standard batteries but maybe that's the right answer.

The Max was known for shorter battery life (as was my 140C compared to my 120). Once upon a time, I tried rechargeable AA's in my Fishin' Buddy 140C. They didn't last a day, Duracell Coppertops did.

I had the same experience as Buzzy using rechargeable AAs with Fishin' Buddy 120 - I got less than a day. I switched to disposable Energizer Max batteries and would usually get 20 hours from a set. My friend has an FB 140C and is a big fan of rechargable for cameras, GPS, etc. He initially tried rechargeables, but quickly changed to bulk buying disposables from Costco.

There were a couple of recommendations for extending battery life on the Fishin' Buddies - turning down backlighting was one. I can't remember the others off-hand.

Kind of what I suspected but appreciate the feedback. Back to one time use batteries.

Thanks,

Steve
