SFR Aliens, Bigfoot, and other unexplained phenomena!

Astronomers estimate there billions (20 sextillion?) of planets in the universe. To think ours is the only one that is inhabited would seem, to me, pretty naive. I don't know if any ET's have arrived here, but, if they have, they're more advanced than we are.

    Tape-Wing Caddis Fly

I put a strip of foam (colour matched w/ a sharpie) under the wing, so should float high and dry. Once wing tied in, I gave it a couple of wraps of hackle as legs, not needing it for floatation. The bulge in the foam made a good head. Actually, was quite simple to tie.

    Tape-Wing Caddis Fly

I saw a post last week showing how to do wings using a feather (dark feathers from a junglecock cape) pressed onto cello tape, then trimmed to shape. I experimented and found it quite easy to do. I decided to try imitating a caddis fly...my first attempt, with a few ideas of my own. I wanted to...

    Tungsten

Wondering if adding color at this point might also result in a more durable, chip-resistant finish....and possibly an added selling point.

    Wading boots suggestions?

I like my Simms Freestone boots (felt soles). The uppers are made of a simulated leather (which doesn't become waterlogged), rather than woven nylon, so are heavier, but I use them a lot in the salt, as well as freshwater, and they have stood up very well. Vibram soles would be very dangerous on...

    Run Etiquette

I think you handled it as best you can. On a decent-sized run, I don't believe first come owns the whole run, but, depending on fishing method/direction, does set the direction of where to step in. Talking first gives them the opportunity to not be an asshole and most people can reasonably work...

NFR Bear in the back yard last night

We had a cub visit us last year, during a drought, so it was looking for water anywhere it could find it. We let it drink up w/o disturbing it, then it went on its way. I'm sure mama wasn't too far away.

That feeling when you get some new fly fishing stuff

Its not "spending" money on fishing equipment...its "investing"..because we all know we'll sell it someday for more than we paid for it................someday...

We had a cafe in a town I lived in, where we went in as much for the abuse we'd get as for the food. If you asked for a coffee refill, Hazel was likely to say "Get it yourself !!"

    Switch Rod or Not?

A 11-12' switch rod would likely give you more distance, but at the expense of possibly missing fish following in close. A singlehand rod allows you to strip as much of the head in as you like, then, with a few false casts, making a full cast again. With a switch rod, you retrieve to the start...
