Can we have a blue gill thread?

WOW!! That would look even better with some beer batter, fresh coleslaw and a cold beer 🍺!!!
Yah - we weren't prepared to keep any that evening, and also, there's a decent chance that lake could give up a state record one day based on that school, so we didn't want to take those ones!
The next day's school was a slightly smaller class, so no doubt they'll be frying up some of those 12-13"ers!

I hadta find out what the MN record is for crappie…looks like you’re not too far off.

I’m expecting to see you and your wiggle bug on the Minnesota DNR page with the new record fishπŸ‘

I realize that warm water species will soon be the majority fish and agree they are fun to fish. My question, how do you personally put up with the air temps?

Well. The warmwater fish are usually in water warm enough for a swim if you get hot! Also, I'm usually fishing those early and late, since they tend not to like bright, direct sun.

Unfortunately my competition has a significant edge.
My BIL, Gene, lives on the lake and is the single fishiest person I've ever known. AND he loves crappie fishing, so...

I've spent many days 3 feet away from him in a boat, same gear, same lure, doing my damnedest to immitate his every motion and getting consistently outfished three to one. Every. Damn. Time. Love that guy!
