No pics today, but Rigby is very comfortable in the water now. He goes in on his own without needing to be coaxed or carried. I have a PFD for him and put it on him this afternoon, swam out with him a ways with a leash clipped to the back of the PFD (his is always on a leash), and then he towed me back to shore. We did that a couple times, then I put him my dory (background in the above pick) and we went for a row. He liked it and was well behaved and calm in the boat. Next up, taking him out in the boat for some fishing!

Rigby now has half a dozen half pound bass under his belt as copilot in the boat😎

I wish dogs lived longer. I must admit that getting " gray Hank 2023.JPGand old" with Hank was a very special experience . . .
 
National dog day today (whatever that means). Most all of them are great- big or small, hunters or lap dogs.

Still crazy after all these years. We have had a tough year and the comfort this dog has brought to everyone and especially my wife is immense.

My boy Gus. He’s becoming a formidable fishing boi. We found him like this, extremely pleased with himself, when we reached the lake we were hiking to. I was testing out my new (to me) outcast trinity that I got off Craigslist. He got a little anxious and had to swim out to check on me. IMG_3741.jpeg
Might need a bigger tube. I proceeded to get out fished by my wife who was onshore with a dry fly lol.

I’ve had a Trinity for years and it has served me well. But when you add a beautiful spaniel as a hood ornament to it well, that’s just classy!!
That’s a nice looking dog.
