This is an interesting fly. Not difficult but time consuming.
Hook: 2x long dryfly #8
Body: orange deer
Hackle: palmered grizzly
Extension: 25# Mason Hard mono
Wing: light elk tied on the extension.
Even I can tie those.
well, they work, so you should! if you fish for steelhead during the wintertime.Even I can tie those.
I like these ties a lot. I could see something similar in blood red and white working too.

What is the darker pink material in the “tail” on the left?
Wet you fingers with the ice dub, you’ll get a tighter noodle and therefore, a narrower dubbing collar.Well following venture fly co. Tying guides since I have their kit today at work so far has been practicing frenchie's View attachment 138077first

Def need to practice on using less dubbing
Thank you ill keep that in mind for next time, I enjoyed tying it and plan to buy more hooks and such to tie up more of the early ones I did especially the ones I enjoyedWet you fingers with the ice dub, you’ll get a tighter noodle and therefore, a narrower dubbing collar.
Ice dub is really easy to overdub. It’s a lot harder to get thin compared to superfine.Thank you ill keep that in mind for next time, I enjoyed tying it and plan to buy more hooks and such to tie up more of the early ones I did especially the ones I enjoyed
The rule I try to remember is: "Take half as much dubbing as you think you need, then divide that in half."Well following venture fly co. Tying guides since I have their kit today at work so far has been practicing frenchie's View attachment 138077first

In addition to moisture and just using less, try pressing the pad of your middle finger into the nail of your Index finger as you roll the dubbing against your thumb. It concentrates the pressure and gives a tighter spin. Also only spin in one direction!Well following venture fly co. I can confirm little smallmouth on the John Day loved my SRC gurglers. And they REALLY love a waking Miyawaki popper.View attachment 138153
My third src pattern, and very first gurgler…I could see this fly in different colors being a bass or panfish fly
