What's in your vise?

A couple oldies from England for today's 2X2's. Charles Cotton designed these fly patterns in the mid 1600's in England. Cotton was best known as an English poet and formed a friendship with Izzak Walton around 1655 and contributed to Walton's famous The Compleat Angler in its second edition. He was an avid fisher and fly tyer and these are a couple of his more famous patterns.

Thread - white, cream, or other light color

Body - White or cream fur dubbed thin

Wing - two medium dun feathers tied delta style

Thorn Tree

Wednesday happened to be the first vice night ever at the church I've been attending so I decided to get involved. Boy, I forgot how hard it is to be new, glad I showed up and could help. We started with a simple thread and saddle hackle fly. I used red thread to tie this demo.
