couple of tiger flies from virtual vise night. The white is pretty stock.....typical fur, feathers, flash but with some foam in there to create some unbalance, but on an Ahrex TP long. The black one is mostly black snowrunner (nayat) reverse tied on several 25mm shanks off the back of a 4/0 Ahrex TP605.

I tied the white and some of the pink flies during the virtual vise night.

These are Half a Rabbit flies, pattern from a video with Steve Probasco, for lingcod and rockfish.

*strip strip strip* Attempt to reset cast, nope.

*strip strip strip* Attempt to reset cast…and repeat until all but 5ft of line is out. 🙃

I have a strong love hate relationship with balanced leeches. Great looking fly!
Thanks, David -
This particular fly you'd think should be fished very slowly, a twitch or two and pause, right? I had some success with it fishing a marl shoal dropoff by stripping it quickly several feet and pausing. ... go figure.

I get this. I was fishing them deep under the float in the reservoir last year. That 10' 6wt stillwater rod helps hoist them and get a cast going though. But yeah, unless the wind is working the float right I've gone smaller leeches (~8) on a jig hook under the float. When I wanted to fish a big one (10 3xl+) I went to the sinking line. I certainly can't fish a balanced leech with another fly without making big tangled messes, that's for sure. Well, maybe with more experience.
