2024 saw my first day of Muskie fishing (and my first parking lot sous vide).

The rest of the year was more standard-fare (salmons, trouts, tuna, flounders and whitefishes).

Next year, more muskie and maybe bass bigger than my hand.

So. Many. Juvenile coho.

Also got YoY pink and chum, juvenile rainbows, several different year classes of cutthroat and char, along with sculpins and sticklebacks.

If yer talkin' fishpole captures, the usual suspects...steelhead, resident and anadromous Cutts, char, and rainbows, all 5 species of true pacific salmon, several different sculpin species, halibut, cod...Got a bit of warm salty fishpolin' time in this spring, annoyed a shitpile of bonefish, a few barracuda, etc.

Many casts and a lot of learning. A few summer runs, a couple surprise kings that about spun off all the backing, enough fresh coho to eat weekly July-Nov but the most intriguing was one fish.

This resident pink salmon in May:

Really drove home the notion of, “you never know what’s out there until you get out there.”

In addition to the whitefish and trout, I put a few carp in the net. No photos though.

I do have documentation of trigger, bonito/skipjack, dorado, and some sort of jack. image000000.jpeg

The only thing I caught in Hawaii was this poor guy.

But we had a successful tuna trip

Pretty good year.

You made up for me, Randy. I caught zero. Busy year, old fishing partners are no longer with us & I finally agreed with my Kids & former Bride in that I shouldn't be going out alone anymore. I was also bitten by the photography bug a few years ago.

Winter and summer steelhead, rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout, but no SRC that I recall. Chinook and coho salmon. Oh, and a couple whitefish. Oh yeah, and tiger trout and maybe another odd ball from my Utah trip. Can't remember the name of that one. Overall it seems like numbers were down. Apparently I need to go fishing more often.

0 fish also..

Same problem, I'm trying to convince my wife/family I can step out alone and not keel over dead. Right now they don't want me hiking in 2 miles to a lake since they don't plow the road after November 15. I'm stuck in a house with 4 kids on Xmas break and I'm really developing this 1000 yard stare.

Hence my resurrecting an old hobby. I don't have to get far from the rig & usually there are other folks around.
