Tying Resolutions / Goals for 2025

Going to get back to trying the full dress Atlantic Salmon patterns. Made a decent run at them about 10 years ago, time to finish off the task and swing a few for winter fish on the OP.
Among the most beautiful flys there are in my view, and always found them intriguing.
Thankfully, I actually have the materials...otherwise I'd be out of luck.
so true...Rich Youngers used to have his AS ties on display in his shop when it was still open, used to marvel at them.

I would be willing to discuss that with you.

I long ago gave up on fly tying resolutions, but I have recently started to tie a bit more. I usually only tie a couple heavy-use patterns, but I decided to tie up some Muddler Minnows. I figured that if I tie up a couple dozen, by the end I'll be tying decent ones. So that's going well so far; loading up 3 or 4 clumps of deer hair (plus one of squirrel hair) takes a little time. I saw Barry Ord Clarke use a clever little four-bay hair stacker, that had been custom-made, allowing to get all his stacking done at once and have them right at hand when needed.

The sooner everyone realizes that these resolutions, much like unused health club memberships, will never result in real action...the happier you'll be.

Get back to tying with friends, either in person or virtually.
Don't get sick right before the expo in Albany.

First stab at a “Dee”, a Gardner, closer to the version found at Feathers Flies and Phantoms, than the Kelson. I am debating cutting off and redoing the wings, near side split. Totally fishable, still needs JC. IMG_4085.jpeg

Thread broke twice tying in the wing, not sure how…probably wrapped above my first tie in point for the wing, causing the slip to fold and split.
