Took a 93 Year Old Fishing Today

I’ve done very little fishing this year but finally got a couple of hours free today, so I visited a little river not too far away that my Dad first took me camping and fishing to over sixty years ago. It was nice to visit an old friend. The rod is a sweet little 7-1/2’ FE Thomas built in 1930. This area gets used pretty hard these days and the little Rainbows I caught had wised up a bit. A lot of short strikes, but I ended up releasing a half dozen or so all on dries. None were really picture worthy - only up to 9” or so, but they were healthy and fat and full of piss and vinegar! I’d like to think they still had some of the same genes as those I caught there while with my Dad all those years ago.

It was a good day!
