Small creeks

View attachment 116575Always interesting how the creeks change with the winter flows. The buckets shift and fish differently. It was a little slow maybe due to squirrely weather but some fish and one jumbo were landed. He ate a tj hooker in olive.

Hope you all are getting some
Cheers

Change the vegetation a little and I'd think I was there yesterday (haha).
I think I was there last week. This year I noticed there were a couple of big bucket shifts over the winter from at least the last dozen of the 20+ years I've been fishing it.

I had a few hours to explore yesterday and checked out a few sections of Costco Creek in the suburbs. It's cool that there is something like this tucked in amongst the office buildings and shopping malls.

A couple of good dry eats but nothing stuck
This guy ate a soft hackle euro
A full size cuttie straightened the hook in a few pools above
I just got stuck in a stalemate and he won
Ha

Lil bird was disappointed

Small streams are my favorite, little bits of heaven on earth. So peaceful.
And I love picking apart a puzzle. Several fish here, but of course you know where the best fish was holding. I got it without getting hung up too.

You and @rotato are reminding me that it's time to head up into the mountains. My wife and I have a stream where I can wet wade with the 2 weight and she can relax in a folding chair and read while I snag this tree, then that tree and finally get a rhythm going.

Checked off my small stream adventures yesterday. Didn't get the chance to fish over the holiday weekend due to my partner getting sick for the whole 3 days. Knowing that some of the systems close on the 10th, I took the day off of work yesterday (cough cough) to explore some of my favorite spots off HWY 2 before they close :(. The decision to call in did not disappoint. Fished a total of 4 spots and landed around 25 to net. The heat kicked in after 4 hours of fishing and I had to call it. Most of the fish were in the 8"-10" range with the last of the day coming in around 14". Just sad that the season is so short (again). Back to SRCs.

Elk hair caddis was the fly of choice.
