NFR Shooting Stars

Lots of shooting stars tonight. I saw three at once and several others. A couple were really bright. They just last a few seconds so no pics...

Not normal for Western Washington for sure.

Head up into the dark hills on any open sky nite and you will see shooting stars til the sun rises.

I've been told.. Meteors are shooting stars...Meteorites are actual rocks that have fallen to Earth that did not completely burn out in our atmosphere. Of course these meteorites are very valuable and some people profit from their collection. They fall to Earth quite often. Open spaces like frozen tundra reveal them. Some meteorite hunters know specific places along road cuts to hunt for them. Some "shooting stars" end up crashing into the ground and end up as a very valuable mineral specimen (from outer space). Seeing a shooting star is always a thrill, and holding a meteorite is always thought provoking.
