It’s true! The bottle even claimed to be made from ocean plastics! I had to offset the too many ounces of black coffee that I throw down between the burbs and the beach. I’ve heard tell of other more exciting beverage options in that area but at this stage of my life I leave that to more adventurous anglers. Also, the beer depot or whatever it’s called was closed. I did grab a sixer of 7 seas from the mart too in the interest of full disclosure.
I love joking about the bikini coffee shop but in all honesty I’d never go there. My wife would kill me! She hates it when I bother her at work.

A bit windy today. Supposed to be worse tomorrow.
Started at beach #1 at 6:30. Stayed for about 45 minutes but didn’t seem fishing and the tide wasn’t moving much.
Two whale came by while I was there which is always cool to see.
Took off to beach #2. Bad wind situation and only took me about 10 minutes before I buried a fly into my back.
Took a hike into beach #3. Didn’t take a cast.
Back to beach #1 which was the only really fishable beach.
Tide was moving great as I moved down the beach….then the swimmer showed up.
She said she was happy to see me getting out than proceeded to low hole me into the sweat part of the beach. 😂 Well if there were fish there, they got to enjoy the floral fragrances of her perfume.
It just wasn’t meant to be today. No hits, runs or errors but still better than sitting on the couch all day.

I imagine if we stuck into it on the beach, fishing would have picked up on that tide.

We did move to a lake and caught some fish….after Lou figured out the puzzle for the second weekend in row. Those stockers have nothing on the fight of our little saltwater friends though.

Landed two, missed a couple more.

Rezzie I believe.

Lou has the pic of the SRC I landed (phone locked me out) It was just a little guy but fought much harder than it’s bigger, hatchery bread and born cousin I caught later at the lake!

Hit a local beach for an hour and a half this morning. This beach is an enigma. When it’s good, it is one of the best SRC beaches I fish. Good number of fish, all quality and chunky. When it’s bad, it’s really bad. It’s close, I’ve probably fished it 60 -80 times over the years and I have been skunked probably 75% of those outings.

In April though, when chum fry are around and you have the right tide, it can be great. This morning it was pretty good but could have been better had I arrived an hour earlier. Got there and immediately saw 3-5 fish swirling and slashing in knee to thing deep water. Second cast, hooked up but lost the fish. 4th cast hooked up again and landed a nice chunky 14-15 inch SRC. A few casts later, another. This one jumped and cartwheeled through the remaining pod and scattered them. Fished it for another hour and 15 minutes with one additional bump before I headed home.

This rip is probably 500 yards long and 50 yards wide over some great SRC looking habitat. Problem, the publicly accessible beach is much, much smaller than that.
I’ll enjoy it for another month or so and then wait again until next year :)..

Hit the canal today after some family business. Started at 10:30 and called it a day at 2:30.
Wet and windy about as expected, though a little less wind would have been nice. Water never really moved.
About 10 fish to hand, but nothing north of 14”. Everything came on fry patterns, though I never saw any today.
I saw maybe half a dozen fish rise or jump. Overall a nice day on the water.

Nada on the canal, hit a scenic secluded beach with a Mountain View and an estuary, and a couple oyster beds. Went down to the most well known south sound beach and saw an absurd number of big cutthroat gorging on chum fry. Unfortunately, I ended up with the fly fishing equivalent of ED and found that two weeks away from the fly rod was enough for me to forget the subtle nuances that were making my casts work. Really hoped to have my first cutthroat to hand today but it wasn’t meant to be

Though not always, but usually when you see cutts working fry like that they can be caught. Keep at it and it will happen for you.

My wife loves Ina, and I’m sure she would love that book BACON 24/seven.my daughter was a vegetarian but thought her first born should eat at least some meat. She would call ahead to tell us she would be down the next morning. My grand son would run into the house and take a deep breath and yell baaacon. Grand parents are meet to spoil their grand kids.
