GO!

ok, each post (you shouldn't be limited to one overall) should include one over-rated game fish out here in the PNW ad one under-rated game fish here in the PNF (doesn't have to be native nor does it have to unique to other posts). All I ask is that each post has one of each (there is no wrong or right answer). 🍻

For me, right now in this moment.....

over-rated: Deschutes Redsides (red-bands; rainbows, etc etc etc)

under-rated: whitefish

Lots of good answers and each makes sense in it's own way.

Most underrated steelhead on single handed rods.
Rationale for my choice; people have given up the serious pursuit of steelhead and those that still do mostly use spey rods to make the casting easier but are the equivalent of 10-12 weight rods which dull the fight of even the most fantastic steelhead. I think that's along with their increasing rarity especially in small summer run streams is breeding lots of apathy.
Anyone who has hooked a wild summer in may on the Washougal on a 7wt single hander would not call them underrated, they'd be too busy chasing them downstream before their backing ran out.

Most over rated. Carp. I guess they'd be OK if you never had to touch them.

Over-rated: ODFW’s ability to manage.

Under-rated: Water Watch, Trout Unlimited, and other eco-groups’ damage to our state and recreational opportunities.

For every action…there’s an adverse reaction.
