Not my road trip

Go a chance to meet @Zak today, and we spent a very pleasurable afternoon fishing and getting to know each other. Special day, thanks for visiting Zak.

Fun to watch him cast and work the muddler. He casts a beautiful line and mends so well.

I was a little concerned with the weather the days before, but the sun came out, there was little wind, and fish were quite cooperative, including this double Zak pulled.

After taking a fish that had come clear out of the water and crashed down on his dry, he was rerigging when I cast in and this guy shot up off the bottom for an explosive eat of the muddled hares ear.

A lot of flies worked, however this bird of prey took 3 fish in 3 casts, on the way back through.

Good times! Now to restock, each of us lost a lot of flies.

Tom generously shared his home water with me and put on a clinic of how to fish it! There are nice fish in there, here's Tom with one of his very many on:

There is a lot of fly grabbing structure in this river, creating interesting puzzles of how to get a drift without losing my fly. I was sometimes successful (as @Tom Butler says, we will be restocking fly boxes)!

Saw this cool snake (common water snake?):

It was really great to meet Tom in person! I feel like I met a kindred spirit and made a new friend. Thank you, Tom!
