Non-Fly Nehalem River

Saw 4 salmon landed and kept yesterday morning on the Nehalem in Wheeler. From about 6-7:30am. One by a dude on the public dock, and the three other by folks trolling. One on a green label herring behind a flasher half way between the white can and the dock just downstream of the public dock. It was the dudes first pass too.
Saw a few salmon jump by the white can mentioned above also.
No love for me. Tossed two diff colors of blue fox spinners and two diff weighted spinners, and a jig. Talk about a beautiful morning though.

I’m going to go back soon hopefully. Rent a boat from one of the marinas to soak some crab rings and troll around.

A friend of mine kept referring to it as the best small boat fishery in the NW and when I finally went I saw why. Even saw a fold up car topper boat get one.

I keep meaning to rent a boat there as well, I even saw some with rod holders.

I had a different report of a dock hook up as well, so that is 2 confirmed…hmmm road trip!

The one fish limit on these fisheries makes the trip hard to justify for me.
